Change is in the air! The American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses is undertaking changes in identity to rejuvenate and invigorate the society as a whole. Listening to the membership, to the various voices of ambition, and reflecting on the inclusiveness of the members, the Board of Directors has elected to shape the society internationally and expand the borders of membership. Thus, the ASPSN will now be known as: ISPAN - The International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses.

As we continue to be THE Definitive Voice for Plastic and Aesthetic Nursing, we want to span the evolving world of reconstructive and aesthetic nursing, and that is exactly what the name ISPAN will allow us to do.

The International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses (ISPAN), Inc., is an international nursing specialty organization committed to the enhancement of quality nursing care delivered to the patient undergoing plastic and reconstructive surgery. The organization supports and encourages the collaborative relationship between nurses engaged in the areas of clinical practice, education, administration, and research. ISPAN recognizes its responsibility to the advancement of plastic and reconstructive surgical nursing practice and provides a broad spectrum of educational opportunities to promote personal and professional growth of members.

ISPAN helps enhance the practice of plastic surgical nursing by providing information about current trends, patient safety initiatives, and legislative updates. Incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1975, ISPAN has a growing membership of approximately 1,000 nurses who specialize in the areas of surgical and non-surgical aesthetics, reconstruction, education, and management.
